Entry #1: The Journey Begins
Mon 5/31 1:26pm (EST) | Mon 5/31 10:56pm (Local Time, India)
After missing my flight two night in a row, I have finally arrived in India. Third time’s a charm. Ironically enough, after sprinting to my boarding gate, ducking under ‘exit’ zones and arriving at 8:15pm only to be told that my flight was closed (‘beat it kid,’ a la Hov) on my second attempt -...

Before I Go | While I'm Away
Just a few hours away from flight departure. 26 hours of travel will get me to Nepal by May 30, 8:15AM (the time there is 9 hrs, 45 mins ahead). I’ll be returning on June 15. I wanted to take the time out once again to thank EVERYONE who has been a part of me going on this trip. If you’ve donated your time, money or shared a kind word (or two, or three) - that includes you. To my...

Back into the Pool
I leave for Nepal tomorrow and have been pretty swamped since I got back from vacation on Monday making sure that all my ducks are in a row (June rent paid, packing done etc.). With all the emotions my Peace Corps invitation stirred up, I didn’t even take a minute to celebrate the fact that I accomplished what I set out to. Shame on me!

Almost There, Almost Time
Back from my last hoorah with 3 days until the big trip and just $439 to raise until then. Two successful fund-raiser and donations from friends, family, colleagues and strangers have brought me this close. I’m truly grateful for everyone who has chipped in and supported the mission from the beginning. From the very bottom of my heart, thank you!
If you’d still like to contribute,...

Medically Cleared for Peace Corps
At the end of February, I mailed in all of my medical documents to Peace Corps. From that point, you wait for clearance and if you’re cleared, you move into the placement/invitation stage of the application process. I did my part, filled out all of the forms, handled all the vaccinations, mailed in the colossal packet and detached from the outcome. I’m actually really, really proud of...

Vaccinations, Fun for Everyone!
I’d be lying if I said wasn’t overwhelmed right now. I’d also be lying if I said I wasn’t enjoying this challenge. Not being restricted by a 9-5 is awesome. Not having health insurance? Not so awesome.
Though fund-raising is going exceptionally well for the Nepal venture, there are still immediate costs that need to be covered (things that should not wait until after...

The Bee Recap
So - last night was a BLAST. I successfully hosted my very first fund-raiser and got heckled by the people in the audience for my word selections in the Bee, lol. We had 18 participants and raised $800. The food was great, the love was there and everyone had a good time (as far as I know). TREMENDOUS thank you to Staple | Reed Space, Mishka, BOUNDLESS NY, Steve Madden, and Girl Scouts of the USA...
